I'm a freelance writer specialising in pop culture. I write about television, music, comedy, podcasts, film and the internet (pretty much in that order), and have been published in The Guardian, The i, Q Magazine (RIP), The New Statesman, NME and Time Out. You can find my entire Guardian archive here and selected highlights under the work tab on this site.

I ran The Guardian’s How To Be A Critic masterclass in 2021 and 2022 and have run masterclasses and workshops on the same topic for UCL and Newcastle University.

Between 2014 and 2017, I was the previews editor of the Guardian Guide. between 2017 and 2018, I was the deputy music editor of The Guardian. At the Guide, I created an interview series called The Funniest Thing, in which almost 300 comedians were asked questions about the things that made them laugh in real life. The first interview was with Romesh Ranganathan, the final one was with Peter Baynham. read the full archive (or just the generally amusing headlines) here.
